Project Engineers: Austin Brockenbrough and Associates, L.L.P, Richmond, VA
The Building Oversight Team (BOT) has conducted various planning meetings as well as visited many area churches in the endeavor of planning our new facility.
Much effort has been put into developing a facility that will allow for the "Gathering and Growing" of sheep, while making a clear statement that Chester Christian Church is a beacon of light in the Chester community.
To quote architect Jim DePasquale's summary, "Chester Christian Church is a dynamic congregation of vibrant, growing, young families who envision their church home as a friendly, casual, welcoming place, a place to know Jesus and God, a place of spiritual growth and worship…a place of contagious love. Theirs is a mission of:
amongst the Church Community and the larger Regional Community. Blessed with a beautiful site, their goal is to integrate the beauty of the land into all they do. Their church home can, therefore, be described as a Haven For Retreat."
The goal of our new facility can be described as just that, becoming a "Haven For Retreat" for those in and around the Chester community who are seeking the comfort of a relationship with Jesus.
The building will provide approximately 20,000 square feet to include a two-story educational wing that will meet the needs of those ranging in age from infancy to adulthood. There will also be administrative offices that will support the ministry team and special meeting facilities. The "Centrum," or multipurpose wing, is designed to meet a multitude of needs. This area will seat guests during worship services, while also being able to serve as a banquet facility, sporting/recreational events, or theater/musical productions.
Great efforts have gone into ensuring that the facility will compliment the surrounding community while incorporating and preserving the natural environment.
The Building Oversight Team is excited about what the Lord has planned for the church and the Chester community as a whole, and continues to work at a diligent pace to keep the project on track.
