Circle Guidelines
1. Mission Statement: The purpose of this group is to provide Christian service to the Church and Community, and to promote closer fellowship and encouragement to one another.
2. Membership: To include every woman in Chester Christian Church.
3. Policies:
a. This organization will be subject to the oversight of the Elders of the Church.
b. This organization is non-profit; our funds are obtained through freewill offerings, and are used for Christian service.
4. Officers and Elections:
a. The Officers of the Joy circle shall be members of the congregation.
(1) President
(2) Vice President
(3) Secretary
(4) Treasurer
b. They shall be elected for a two-year term. Election of officers will be held in May. If an officer is going to be absent from a meeting, a written report will be given to the President prior to the meeting.
5. Duties:
a. The President will preside over the monthly meetings and oversee the duties of other officers and committees.
b. The Vice President will preside over the monthly meetings in the absence of the President and will oversee the compilation of the yearbook.
c. The Secretary will keep a roll of membership, keep an accurate record of all meetings, and read communications and documents as directed.
d. The Treasurer will receive all money collected and report all such income and expenditures in a monthly report.
6. Committees:
a. Sunshine. Will be responsible for sending cards to the ladies at the time of illness, death in the family, or birth of a child.
b. Hospitality. Will be responsible for purchasing a $25 gift certificate from the Joy Circle for marriages of members and/or regular attendees. Providing a $25 gift certificate for members and/or regular attendees at the birth or adoption of any child.
NOTE: The definition of regular attendees is an individual that attends worship an average of two Sundays a month.
7. Secret Pals:
a. You are encouraged to find out special things about your "Pal." This will help you in the selection of her gifts. Remember her on her birthday, anniversary, Easter, and other holidays and special days.
b. If your "Pal" does not have a wedding anniversary, you might want to remember her around the anniversary of her becoming a Christian.
c. You are encouraged to remember your "Pal" during the year with prayer, cards, and small gifts. These gifts should not exceed $10.00. Put some thought into your gifts to reflect yourself, and to help make your "Pal" year brighter and happier.
d. Remember Secret Pals are revealed at the Christmas Party. You are encouraged to bring to the party a Christmas ornament and "goodie." Be sure to have your gift at the party even if you cannot attend.
e. Your new "Pal" is in effect at the time of the drawing at the Christmas Party. You may want to get a small "thinking of you" gift for Christmas.
f. If you cannot continue with your "Pal" please let the Coordinator know.
